I've figured out how to be individual, artistic, and cool these days:

Get a camera, preferably an older one (that is, "vintage").
Spend hours online searching for some hermit in Hemet that still makes film for said camera (your free-spirit points increase invariably with the number of hours online, hence making you more artistic the more time you spend looking for film and giving you mad bragging rights).
Take pictures of dumb, quotidian, inanimate shit like old books, a bottle of Charles Shaw, a lighter, or toothpaste (actually, kids in Africa are a maaaajor plus but of course there's the obstacle of actually going there).
Pay someone to print the film or spend for-fucking-ever screwing it up and learning how to do it yourself (the latter has the added benefit similar to your time spent searching for the film).
Boom. You're original, instantly stand out from everyone and clearly live by your own rules.
(Of course, you could also just buy a new camera that reproduces an older look of film and no one would ever know, in which case you'd of course still be original).
